Advice from a Friend

Joffe Charitable Trust

Reviewer UK262 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2019

We would advise them to know before beginning their request, what they’re going to do and how that will deliver the aims of JCT. How they’re going to this given the available resources, and who they need to get on board to help them do what they can’t do on their own. And finally, how all this will actually make change happen in the real world.

This funder has specific interests, so research what they are, who/what they have funded before, and try to make contact with the trust to develop a relationship first. They also have a very personalised approach which we found very helpful.

I would tell them how helpful the Joffe Trust are as funders, that it's worth first looking on their website on what they currently fund and contacting them for an initial conversation because they are approachable and for us also genuinely want to help the charities they support, asking the right questions to help each charity thrive into the future.

To double check the appetite to receive the application, as I felt there was some miscommunication regarding the level of interest
