They were lovely to work with--approachable, efficient, and respectful. They were specifically interested in funding important human rights work, which was unpopular, and battled to find funding elsewhere, and we fell into this category. It was a relief to get the funding, and it helped us to grow our programme substantially and make great progress in the work. The staff were a pleasure to work with--interested and committed, but not intrusive or disrespectful. At the end of the grant, we got the most detailed and thoughtful response to our final report from them--quite unique in our experience, and so welcome. The downer was that they would only fund for a maximum of 3 years. We miss them.

Not familiar with what they are currently involved in, but during our interactions, and from what I knew of their support of other organisations, it seemed like they were doing a good job.
Selfishly, we wish you'd consider funding small organisations for longer periods.
The way they deal with grantees is respectful, but curious and diligent. We always appreciated the spirit of interaction.

That they are grant givers who provide not only the funds if they are successful but also advice, support and guidance too.
If a small organisation working in one specific area in the UK then to check whether they would now be suitable compared to when we were first funded.

Organisations that were chosen by the founder in specific localities understand that a new focus is being sought by the trust to create maximum impact which makes wonderful sense, we do however hope that the trust consider still funding other small charities doing incredible work in the future who are based in the town he loved and was an advocate for.
Response and advice given once grant reports are received is very helpful .

Know what you want their help for, and what difference that will make to your aims, and what difference that will make to the world. If you're too small to change things on your won who will you bring in or ally with to achieve change at scale? Have you got the right people and knowledge?

Judging by events held by Joffe they are good at picking winners, and those they support think very highly of them.
Work even harder at helping grantees to make new contacts - it costs little but can provide big returns.
Takes an active approach to helping grantees and assisting them in networking.
