The Lloyds Bank Foundation
Every year we make grants to hundreds of small and local charities, investing in their work helping people overcome complex social issues across England and Wales. We provide long-term funding for charities with a proven track record of helping people achieve positive change through deep, person centred and holistic support. We understand that sometimes the most life-changing charities may not always look perfect on paper, and we’re not afraid to take risks where we see great potential.

Enhance support is really something else. Our regional manager is unreal, she connected us to the best professionals and we have grown leaps and bounds. Young and Inspired would not be on this level without [Team Member Name] support.

The funding manager is always on hand for support and advice.
If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Keep doing what your doing, small charities benefit so much from your excellent work around funding, and many would crash and burn if it wasn't for your funding.

Lloyds are a very positive funder to work with. They are accessible and do not ask for lots of unnecessary monitoring and reporting. I can contact the grant officer over the phone for advice. They fund core costs where they can see you have a valuable service. Great funder.

Communication. Unlike other major funders, I was able to discuss my bid, and even though our recent bid was not successful we were given very helpful feedback.
If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Teach other funders, especially the banks, on how to be a good funder

I do think if there was some way to spend more time talking to the people at the foundation beforehand, then we could make our point more than just via written words. It's competitive enough and I empathise with time constraints, but written applications alone just don't favour small charities like us

It seems to be doing alright. Hard to tell but it has funded a lot of charities.
