Yapp Charitable Trust
We make grants for running costs and salaries to small registered charities in England and Wales to help sustain their existing work. We will not fund work that does not focus specifically on one of our priority groups. Applicants that reflect our grant making policy have the best chance of success. We offer grants only to registered charities with a total annual expenditure of less than £40,000.

Making a call with the Grants Manager prior to application was really helpful and informed the shape of our application and gave us confidence this was the right funder to apply to. So do pick up the phone!

Excellent
The application form and process is really simple, and only asks for necessary information. We were kept informed of timelines, and the funder will contact us whatever the outcome so we're not left in the dark.
How successfully do you think this funder is accomplishing its goals as a funder?
Excellent
The funder is really clear about how it supports groups, and the types of things it seems to fund match up to this aim. It's a funder for small groups and it's processes and practices seem really well suited to smaller groups who might not have any paid staff - for example providing extra guidance and support if needed, and not requiring lots of capacity and resources to complete the application.

The funder is really good at communication and the preliminary call was really useful in helping us create a good application, I wish more funders did this!
If you had one piece of advice to give to this funder (about grantmaking or anything else), what would it be?
Not many groups in our local area have heard of you, it would be great to see more publicity about the fund in different regions.
How was your relationship overall with the funder?

Is there anything else that's be useful for others to know to understand this funder?
They publish details of their grants in their accounts so this can help you see what sorts of projects and work they are funding. They also generally fund running costs which is great!
