Yapp Charitable Trust
We make grants for running costs and salaries to small registered charities in England and Wales to help sustain their existing work. We will not fund work that does not focus specifically on one of our priority groups. Applicants that reflect our grant making policy have the best chance of success. We offer grants only to registered charities with a total annual expenditure of less than £40,000.

I felt that from the beginning they were on our side and helped us if we were not sure of anything. I would just say have all your documents at the ready and have a clear plan as to why you need the funding and then just be totally honest. It is not a test you have to pass, you just state your need and if they can they will help you.

Just really approachable and helpful.

Without them , I don't know if we could have continued. It took the worry out of managing our group and you can't put a price on 'peace of mind'.

Nothing, I think they excelled in all directions.
How was your relationship overall with the funder?

Is there anything else that's be useful for others to know to understand this funder?
I think don't be frightened of having a go at applying for funding. The worst that can happen is that you are not successful , but the positives if you are can be life saving to your charities future.
I think make it clearer about the criteria of various funds just before you start to apply. You don't want to put a lot of effort into your application and then fall at the first hurdle.

The have a good insight into what your organisation does ie its objectives. Consider how on a day to day basis these are achieved and what targets you can mention. The more people who benefit the better. How will a grant enable to meet your purpose and objectives. Speak to them before hand as they are very helpful.

The application process is straightforward and you will receive efficient communications from the funder. The funding is particularly beneficially for small grassroots charities as it covers core costs and provides much-needed multi year funding.

Unfortunately, a 6 week turnaround is not always possible with our limited budget and resources as our Trustees only meet 3 times a year. However, we do keep applicants up to date with our decision making timeframe so that they can plan to research and submit additional grants whilst waiting to hear from us.
